Equitation

A good Equitation rider is always in balance with the horse. They must learn to maintain a proper connection and develop a greater command of the aids with emphasis on the basic principles of straight and forward. They will learn to maintain a correct position in every gait and over fences, as well as to possess a strong, but relaxed, presence allowing them to direct the horse with minimal effort.

The Equitation horse has a strong foundation in basic Dressage and marries the rhythm and style of a Hunter with the scope and agility of a Jumper. They must be elastic, able to shorten and lengthen stride effortlessly. They are introduced to variety of different jumps and combinations to improve strength and confidence, as they are often challenged in the show ring by a wide array of obstacles. Both horse and rider must demonstrate a higher degree of poise and athleticism. A customized and dedicated training program structured to improve strength, balance and communication will improve overall rideability and lead to great success in the show ring.
